The Baseball Buffet for 8/10/2026

NYM 11, PIT 1 - The Mets roughed up PIT SP Jared Jones (3 IP, 6 H, 8 ER, 3 BB, 3 K), including Luis Robert Jr. hitting a 2-run HR in the second. The Pirates brought in six relievers, and the Mets scored against three of them, though interestingly not against catcher Rafael Flores Jr. when he took a turn on the mound in the ninth. Francisco Alvarez was 1-3 with a HR, a walk, and 2 runs; Bo Bichette went 5-5 with 2 doubles, a walk, 3 runs, and 3 RBI; and Jared Young went 3-5 with a triple. Meanwhile, NYM SP Sean Manaea was outstanding with 11 K over 7 innings (3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB), only giving up a solo HR to Jake Mangum in the third. Jack Weisenburger made his major league debut in relief of Manaea, pitching two scoreless frames to close it out.

TOR 6, PHI 7 (12) - The Phillies scored first when Kyle Schwarber hit a 3-run HR in the third. He also hit a solo HR off TOR SP Shane Bieber (5.2 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 4 K) in the fifth. Those home runs broke a drought for him as he hadn't hit a long ball since July 18. Meanwhile, PHI SP Jesús Luzardo had an impressive 12 K over 7 innings (4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB) as the Phillies built up a 5-2 lead. Orion Kerkering struggled in the eighth, giving up four hits and three runs as the Blue Jays tied the game, eventually leading to extras.

Neither team scored in the 10th or 11th innings, and then Caleb Kilian came in for the Phillies in the 12th. He gave up a single to Brett Batemanthat advanced the automatic runner to third. Jesús Sánchez grounded into a double play, but the run scored. Lazaro Estrada came in for Toronto to pitch the bottom of the 12th, but immediately gave up singles to J.T. Realmuto and Bryson Stott which scored the automatic runner to tie the game. Estrada gave up a single and an intentional walk to load the bases, and then Derek Hill hit a walk-off single for the Phillies' win.

MIN 3, MIL 4 (10) - Jackson Chourio led off the bottom of the first with a HR, and Jake Bauers connected for a solo HR in the fifth off MIN SP Connor Prielipp (5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K). MIL SP Jacob Misiorowski had 9 K over 6 innings, but also gave up 3 runs due to long balls, a solo HR by Brooks Lee and a 2-run HR by Kody Clemens. The game remained knotted 3-3 through regulation, with Brewers reliever DL Hall then throwing a scoreless top of the tenth. The Twins brought in Yoendrys Gómez for the bottom of the inning, and he began by intentionally walking Garrett Mitchell and then struck out William Contreras. Bauers then hit a walk-off single that drove in the automatic runner Brice Turang, who made a head-first slide at home for the win.

ATL 2, NYY 1 (10) - This game was a pitcher's duel with ATL SP Grant Holmes tossing six scoreless innings (6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K), and NYY Cam Schlittler striking out 11 over 7 innings (3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB), finally giving up a solo HR to Matt Olson in the seventh (his 34th of the season). Trent Grisham hit a game-tying solo HR in the eighth off Braves reliever Didier Fuentes, eventually leading to extras. Michael Harris II led off the top of the tenth with a single to drive in the automatic runner, and then Tyler Kinley pitched a scoreless bottom of the tenth to earn his first save of the year. With the win the Braves avoided a series sweep by the Yankees.

BOS Sonny Gray vs. TOR Jameson Taillon - The Red Sox have been hot with two lengthy winning streaks recently, but if the Blue Jays are going to make a playoff run they need to do it now. Taillon (2-6, 5.96 ERA) has not had a good season, so this game could be a challenge up against Gray (14-2, 2.78 ERA).

KCR Noah Cameron vs. LAD Tarik Skubal - This contest is interesting as it is Skubal's second start as a Dodger, but also because Cameron has been outstanding recently, with a 0.39 ERA over his last three starts (1 ER in 23 IP).

MIL Logan Henderson vs. SDP Casey Mize - Henderson has done well this year (6-1, 2.70 ERA), while Mize is looking for a better second game than his debut last week (3.1 IP, 9 H, 8 ER vs. Arizona).
