The Baseball Buffet for 7/27/2026

COL 2, MIL 11 - Quite predictably, MIL SP Jacob Misiorowski dominated the Rockies with 12 K over 5 innings, including seven strikeouts to start the game (1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB). The only run he allowed came from a solo HR to rookie Cole Carrigg in the fifth inning. Willi Castro connected for a solo HR later in the seventh, but that didn't matter much given the 14 hits and 11 runs the Brewers put up. Jackson Chourio was 2-5 with 2 doubles and 2 runs; Jake Bauers went 2-3 with a walk, a double, and 2 runs; Luis Lara was 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI; Cooper Pratt was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI; and Joey Ortiz went 2-4 with a triple and a double.

ATL 3, BAL 2 (11) - The Braves scored two runs early off BAL SP Shane Baz (4.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K), while BAL SP Reynaldo López pitched effectively into the sixth inning (5.2 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K). Pete Alonso hit a solo HR in the eighth, and so with a 2-1 lead Atlanta turned to closer Raisel Iglesias for the ninth. He walked Christian Encarnacion-Strand, struck out Tyler O'Neill, but then an error by Ozzie Albies put the runner on third. A groundout by Jackson Holliday drove in a run, and the game went into extras. Neither team scored in the 10th, and the Orioles brought in Andrew Kittredge to pitch the 11th.

Austin Riley led off the inning with a double, which drove in the automatic runner. Kittredge then loaded the bases with a walk and an intentional walk, but managed to get a pop out and fly out to get out of the jam. Braves reliever Tyler Kinley also loaded the bases with a walk and an intentional walk, but with two outs was able to get Sam Huff to ground out to end the game.

CLE 0, TBR 1 - I noted in yesterday's Baseball Buffet that this game looked like a potential pitcher's duel, and that is what we got. Steven Kwan led off the game with a double, but that was the only hit that TBR SP Drew Rasmussen would allow over seven impressive innings (7 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K). CLE SP Parker Messick also was effective (7.2 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K), only allowing a run when a single by Chandler Simpson, a wild pitch, and then a single by Cedric Mullins plated the speedy Simpson. Two Rays relievers pitched scoreless innings to combine for a one-hit shutout, including closer Bryan Baker who recorded his 28th save.

NYY 4, PHI 11 - The Phillies roughed up NYY SP Will Warren (3 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 5 K), including Bryson Stott hitting a HR in the second inning. PHI SP Cristopher Sánchez pitched four scoreless innings before giving up three runs in the fifth (6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K). Already ahead 6-3, the Phillies scored five more in the sixth off Yankees reliever Ryan Yarbrough. Ben Rice connected for his 31st HR of the year in the seventh, but that was all the Yankees would get as Philadelphia reliever Chase Shugart struck out five over the final two innings. Beyond the early HR, Stott overall was 3-4 with a double and 5 RBI on the day. Trea Turner went 2-5 with a triple and 2 runs, and Kyle Schwarber was 1-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs.
