KCR 3, DET 2 - Both teams scored a run in the second inning, and then the Tigers took the lead when Hao-Yu Lee hit a solo HR in the fourth off KCR SP Michael Wacha (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K), who otherwise pitched well over seven innings. DET SP Casey Mize was also effective for six (6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K), but then the Tigers bullpen gave up a solo HR to Salvador Perez in the seventh, and Nick Loftin hit a go-ahead solo HR in the ninth. Royals reliever Alex Lange pitched a scoreless ninth, striking out two and earning his 10th save. The HR by Perez was the 318th of his career, breaking the tie he had with Hall of Famer George Brett for the most home runs in Royals history.

TOR 6, BOS 0 - TOR SP Dylan Cease was the AL All-Star starter for a reason, and he showed it again yesterday as he threw a complete game with 12 strikeouts (1 H, 0 ER, 3 BB), only allowing a double to Andruw Monasterio in the sixth. Meanwhile the Blue Jays pecked away at BOS SP Sonny Gray (5 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, 0 BB, 3 K) in the third inning, with six consecutive two-out hits, including a 3-run HR by George Springer. They collected 15 hits overall on the day, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. going 3-4 with a walk and 2 RBI; Nathan Lukes was 2-5 with 2 doubles; Ernie Clement was 3-4 with a double; and Springer, Daulton Varsho, and Andrés Giménez had two hits apiece.

CLE 0, TBR 3 - CLE SP Tanner Bibee allowed a lot of baserunners and three runs over six innings of work (6 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K). Meanwhile, TBR SP Nick Martinez pitched six scoreless innings, and three Rays relievers combined for a 5-hit shutout. Bryan Baker earned his 27th save, and Yandy Díaz and Chandler Simpson had two hits apiece for Tampa Bay.

NYY 3, PHI 1 - NYY SP Ryan Weathers had 7 K over 5.2 IP (6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB), and three Yankees relievers kept the Phillies from the scoring, with David Bednar pitching the ninth for his 20th save. Philadelphia went with a bullpen approach for yesterday's game, eventually giving seven different hurlers some time on the mound. Austin Wells hit a solo HR in the third inning, Jasson Domínguez did the same in the seventh, and Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Bellinger each had two hits.

ATL 2, BAL 3 - ATL SP Bryce Elder had 8 K over 5 innings (5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 8 K), giving up a solo HR to Gunnar Henderson in the fifth. BAL SP Brandon Young was effective (6.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) and the Orioles had a 2-1 lead through seven innings. Ozzie Albies tied the game with a HR in the top of the eighth, but then Orioles reliever Yennier Cano kept the Braves from scoring in the top of the ninth. Atlanta rookie Didier Fuentes had gotten three straight outs in the eighth, so came back out for the bottom of the ninth. He struck out Tyler O'Neill, but then gave up a double to Jackson Holliday. Colton Cowser flew out, with Holliday advancing to third. Dylan Beavers then hit a walk-off single to drive him in.
