The Baseball Buffet for 4/9/2026

SEA 0, TEX 3 - MacKenzie Gore was dominant (5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K) and three Rangers relievers combined for a two-hit shutout, including Cole Winn who notched his first save of the year. SEA SP Bryan Woo didn't really pitch badly (5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K), but the runs he allowed were all it took in this one.

HOU 1, COL 9 - HOU SP Cristian Javier left with a shoulder injury after only one inning (1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K), and then AJ Blubaugh struggled in relief (1 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 0 K). The Rockies tacked a few more runs later, while COL SP Michael Lorenzen scattered the runners he allowed (5.2 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) and Zach Agnos kept the Astros off the board for a long save (3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K). Hunter Goodman went 1-2 with 2 walks, a HR, and 3 runs, Edouard Julien was 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI, and Ezequiel Tovar went 2-5 with 2 doubles. The Rockies swept this series with the Astros, so at this point they are somehow 6-6, and the Astros are worse at 6-7.

STL 6, WSH 1 - WSH SP Miles Mikolas was ineffective for a third time in three starts so far this year (3 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K), and the Nats bullpen also kept allowing runs. Meanwhile, STL SP Michael McGreevy did well (6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K) and three Cardinals relievers kept the Nationals off the board the rest of the way. Jordan Walker hit his fifth HR, and fourth HR in the past five games, and Alec Burleson went 3-4 with a walk and 3 RBI.

LAD 3, TOR 4 - The Blue Jays avoided a sweep in this World Series rematch. Both starters did well: LAD SP Shohei Ohtani (6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) and TOR SP Dylan Cease (5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 8 K). For the Dodgers, Will Smith went 2-3 with 2 walks and 2 runs, and Freddie Freeman went 2-5. The game was tied 3-3 when in the bottom of the eighth, with runners on first and third, Andrés Giménez stole second and the throw from Will Smith was a little low and bounced away allowing Davis Schneider to score. Toronto closer Jeff Hoffman then came in and struck out two to secure his second save.
